It was started as an independent free service to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions. We first started under the name of valuecompare.com in February, 2004 and later changed the name to akabook.com to more accurately reflect the nature of our major business: book price comparison. Akabook.com is a privately held independent venture.
What we do

book. Akabook.com searches all major US bookstores in real time, and
returns the price and availability information to you in less than 15
seconds. We also include several UK bookstores with international shipping.
